Jamie Lake

Founding Member

Jamie Lake (she/her) is a DONA trained, REAL Doula certified doula who began her journey in 2013. She is a classically trained soprano and aspiring opera singer. When not assisting families or singing, you can often find her reading in a hammock, swimming in a lake, riding her Catrike, or walking in the woods.

Jamie’s mother was a midwife so she grew up with birth stories around the table and knowing that birth was normal and could be beautiful. She has one daughter whose birth was a planned home birth, birth center transfer helping her to realize that not everything goes as planned but even variations can be empowering. Jamie’s favorite thing about birth is watching a birthing person find their strength and power. It never gets old. Jamie supports ALL births, ALL families, ALL journeys.

Kristen Schell

Certified Birth Doula | Birth Photographer | Lamaze Childbirth Educator
Founding Member

Kristen (she/her) is a queer, disabled, certified DONA birth doula, birth photographer and Lamaze Childbirth Educator. She is seen chasing around her two tiny humans and wishes that they were couch potatoes like their mother. Kristen has been married to her partner for almost 10 years and he is the best co-parent.

Kristen loves supporting families in their vision for birth and walk alongside them to help them welcome their babies into this world. She wants to help them feel like they're making informed choices and feel in control of the birth process. Kristen knows that we can't control everything but we can try to stack the cards in our favor by doing prenatal education and practice before the birth.

Charissa Warne

Postpartum Doula

Charissa (she/her) is a DONA trained postpartum doula. Born and raised in Southern California, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Cal State Fullerton along with an elementary teaching credential. Her first child was born overseas and her eyes were opened to a new way of approaching healthcare, birth, and postpartum.

However you made your family, whatever it might look like, she’s here for all of it. Solo, partnered, lgbtqia+, fostering, adopting: your family is beautiful and unique and Charissa is here to support this unique stage of life with a newborn.

Charissa believes we were meant to live in community rather than isolation; it takes a whole lot of hands to care for parents and new babies. That can range from practical care like making sure everyone is fed, clean, and rested, to trauma-informed emotional support.  Everyone caring for a new baby deserves care themselves.

Area of Service: Within 30 miles of South Bend, IN
